The magnetic lock won't hold
A door with a magnetic lock won't stay shut or closes poorly — there aren't many causes, and some are visible to the naked eye.
Check in order
01Does the door close fully?
The magnet only holds with full contact.
Check whether anything stops the door from closing
- a skewed door
- a sagging closer
- a pebble in the doorway
02Look at the contact surfaces
The magnet on the frame and the armature plate on the door must sit flush.
Dirt, ice or rust weaken the grip.
You can safely wipe the contact surfaces with a dry cloth.
03Is there power?
A magnetic lock only holds while it has power — during a power cut the door releases, and that's by design: in a fire, a door must not trap people.
If the power is on but the lock won't hold, the problem is the lock's power supply or the controller — you need a specialist.
Separate case — outside the checklist
04It holds, but weakly
The door can be pulled open by hand — a worn or shifted plate, or a voltage drop.
This can be adjusted and repaired — a specialist's job.
If the lock still won't hold
Tell us: the door won't close, won't hold, or holds weakly — we'll come and put it right.
