An indicator or message is showing on the panel
A yellow light has come on or a message has appeared — the system is trying to tell you something. Here's what the colours mean and what to do.
Emergency
If it's red and a siren is sounding — it may be a real alarm: if there are signs of fire, call 112 and leave the building.
01The colour speaks first
The general rule for most panels:
- Green — all good, power is on
- Yellow — a fault, the system works but needs attention
- Red — an alarm or something has been activated.
02A yellow indicator (Fault)
The system keeps working, but something is off: often the backup battery, a detector or a line.
Write down the text or code from the display and tell your maintenance company.
Yellow won't clear on its own — don't ignore it.
03A red indicator
If the alarm was false or has been reset, the display usually shows which zone triggered.
Write the zone or message down and tell your maintenance company — false alarms are a diagnosis too.
04Take a photo of the display
The best way to get it right is to photograph the message.
From a photo we can often tell the cause before we even set out.
If it's still unclear
Send us or read out what's lit and what it says — we'll tell you what it means and come out if a repair is needed.
